Residential Re-Roof in East Devon
Chubb Roofing Contractors were asked to provide a new roof covering in clay plain tile to the main premises and lower bay roof areas.
Once stripped of all original roof tiles, the roof structure was sprayed with a suitable timber treatment to prolong the roof structure's life. The roof was then covered with Marley TX breathable membrane. 25x38mm treated battens were fixed in place using galvanised nails and set to a gauge of 100mm. The roof was then covered with Redland clay plain roof tiles with tile and a half at the verges and abutments. The tiles were fixed using aluminum nails and eave support trays fitted to ensure protection of the fascias. The roof was crowned using red clay ridge tiles incorporated with a ventilated dry ridge system.
The bay roof areas were stripped of their coverings and the same method as the main roof was carried out with the addition of bonnet hips cemented in place. Insulation was fitted to the customers specification to all loft areas.
The original timber fascia boards were covered with white PVCu cover board with all joins and corners. All rainwater goods were replaced including downpipes with a plastic Ogee rainwater system.
